Academic Support Coordinator assesses students' academic needs and proficiency, assists them in setting goals, connects them to appropriate resources, and provides ongoing support as needed. Coordinates with faculty advisors and staff to provide and support innovative programs that help students succeed. Being an Academic Support Coordinator coordinates tutoring for any students needing remedial instruction or English as a Second Language assistance. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Academic Support Coordinator typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Academic Support Coordinator gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Job Purpose
The Academic Coordinator works with the clinical team to provide academic education classes for adolescent person(s) served in residential treatment services. They will create and execute a lesson plan for multiple adolescents of various ages during their residential treatment. This job requires the ability to work independently, and as part of a team to provide the best care and education for the person(s) served.
Qualifications
- Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of certification to substitute teach in the state of Missouri.
Core Job Duties
- Provide academic education classes to all person(s) served in conjunction with their individualized academic treatment plan.
- Collaborate with the associated schools of person(s) served to coordinate assignments and communicate regarding grades.
- Complete an educational assessment on all person(s) served in the program.
- Communicate with treatment team regarding academic goals and progress of person(s) served and participate in team meetings.
- Identify ways to modify classroom work to meet the learning and behavioral needs of persons served with Individualized Education Plans and/or special education needs.
- Develop and maintain education curriculum and present new curriculum to Program Leadership for approval.
- Adherence to all applicable evidence-based practice models.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of diagnostic criteria sets for substance use and/or mental disorders.
- Orally communicate information effectively and accurately.
- Assure program operates within the constraints of the agency’s certification (CARF, DMH) standards and strategic plan related to clinical care.
