Accounting Director directs the operations and policies of an accounting function. Implements accounting policies and procedures that adhere to governmental, financial, and tax regulations and comply with GAAP and IFRS standards. Being an Accounting Director monitors and evaluates accounting systems and processes to identify areas for improvement and optimization. Oversees overall monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes and reporting. Additionally, Accounting Director develops and directs accounting professionals and supports staff through subordinate managers. Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. May require Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Typically reports to a head of accounting. The Accounting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Job Overview:
This position is a leadership position that will be accountable for the Minnesota Client Accounting department, to provide vision for the department, ensure the accuracy of monthly financials, oversee department processes and procedures, ensuring efficiency, problem resolution, special projects, and analyses, and align the department goals with FirstService Residential company goals.
The position requires a coach and leader who will partner and develop the Client Accounting Department. The ideal candidate is ambitious, self-directed, and capable of working autonomously and with the broader leadership team to achieve the business and financial goals of the company. This position also requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills for relationship building throughout the company.
Your Responsibilities:
Maintain the financial records of FirstService Residential in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, including compliance with applicable Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
