Accounts Payable Supervisor is responsible for supervising and guiding the day-to-day operational activities of an accounts payable function. Maintains and reconciles accounts payable ledger to validate charges and ensure accurate and timely payments. Being an Accounts Payable Supervisor prepares and evaluates applicable accounting reports to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for cost-savings and relays the conclusions to management. Implements standard operating procedures to maintain accurate financial records and compliance with accounting policies. Additionally, Accounts Payable Supervisor investigates and resolves discrepancies in billings and payments. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Accounts Payable Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be an Accounts Payable Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Job Description
Primary Purpose
Oversees the Accounts Payable department’s daily operations and will direct the team to perform duties specific to their area of expertise.
Major Duties & Responsibilities- Directly manages and facilitates all duties within their area. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, facilitating the Expense Reimbursement and Company Card program, assisting with reconciliation company-wide and completing month-end close of Accounts Payable. Processes daily WebCenter imports and researches discrepancies, processes Automated Clearing House (ACH) set-ups and changes and inputs new vendors and vendor changes.
- Provides clear direction and support for team activities. Monitors the daily performance of the Accounts Payable department. Guides training and development of the team to increase competency and commitment.
- Establishes accounts payable policies and procedures aligned with the company’s targets.
- Assists and supports audit initiatives and provides performance and other ad-hoc reconciliations as requested. Manages month-end and year-end closing. Organizes financial data into useable information and maintains updated records.
- Promote and maintain a safe and secure work environment for associates, in accordance with Mountaire policies.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 3 - 5 years' experience in an accounting supervisory position.
- Strong computer skills, MS Excel in particular (managing spreadsheets, creating charts and using advanced formulas).
- Solid knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, laws and regulations.
