Activity Specialist organizes and provides program content for social events for an organization or group of people. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Being an Activity Specialist is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Additionally, Activity Specialist performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a supervisor or manager. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. We seek an Activities Program Aide for a full-time and part time schedule to assist in the planning, organizing and directing therapeutic exercise and recreation programs to effect improvement in the physical, mental and social well-being of kupuna.
Essential Functions
- Plans and conducts mental stimulation programs for memory support
- Leads daily exercise programs
- Conducts group and individual recreational activities according to kupuna needs, capabilities and interests
- Maintains and reviews daily logs
- Assists with transferring, transporting, and caring for kupuna on field trips/outings
Requirements:
- High Schoold Graduate or GED; Bachelor's degree preferred
- Three months related experience or training in related field. Experience in geriatric or long term care setting preferred.
- Able to frequently lift up to 70 lbs.
- Annual physical exam, 2 step TB clearance, background check, drug test, current influenza and covid vaccination.
- Certification in BLS and First Aid required upon hire
