Actuarial Services Director directs the activities of an organization's actuarial function. Oversees the analysis and evaluation of potential risks to determine the financial impacts of new or existing insurance plans. Being an Actuarial Services Director develops policies, procedures, and formulas to guide statistical analysis and actuarial research and evaluate the likelihood and financial impact of various risks. Designs processes and guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance of products and financial operations. Additionally, Actuarial Services Director leads the design and development of insurance products by evaluating and approving insurance rates, premium levels, and rating systems and structures. Oversees the preparation of actuarial reports, financial statements, and regulatory filings and develops financial budgets, forecasts, and other financial projections. Researches and selects major rating assumptions to support accurate statistical analysis and evaluates the effectiveness of existing formulas. Evaluates product performance against established profitability targets and recommends modifications. Applies knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to calculations in life, health, social, and casualty insurance, annuities, and pensions. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA). May require Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA). Typically reports to senior management. The Actuarial Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Actuarial Services Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. We are seeking an Career ASA, Actuarial, or individual with equivalent experience (This position is not in student rotation program). The team is responsible for monthly and quarterly financial reporting including NAIC and IFRS reserves, capital, management risk reporting, OSFI regulatory reporting, supporting experience studies and developing and implementing assumption recommendations. In addition, the team supports business plan projections and participates in business initiatives. How you will contribute: Managing IFRS17 and NAIC monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting deliverables for the In Force Management (IFM) Seg. Fund and LTC block Responsible for managing in-force data process, which requires to build a structure and reconcile with various data sets from our Reinsurance partners Supporting reserve and capital calculation process by using actuarial software including PathWise, Python, and Moody’s AXIS (depending on projects) Responsible for forecast heads-ups and providing insight on the key drivers of income and capital Supporting annual disclosures in the Actuarial Opinion & Memorandum (AOM) and Appoint Actuary Report (AAR) Supporting Experience Studies and ACMA development and implementation including ACMA work coordination and communication with US Central Ownership of SOX processes and support for internal and external audits Partner with ALM, Corporate, and IFM Business in support of business initiatives for this block Leadership & Collaboration: Work in collaboration with IFM Business, Capital Management, Finance, Valuation, and other teams Contribute to building a high-performance team, providing leadership and coaching to actuarial students on the team The role may involve direct management of one or more actuarial students, including recruitment and evaluation of performance What you will bring with you: Ability to work with a diverse range of people Career ASA with relevant work experience 5 or more years of actuarial experience working in individual insurance/annuities products highly preferred. Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Statistics or another field requiring rigorous analysis Strong analytical & technical skills to identify and track performance drivers, detect patterns in results. Strong project management skills with a proven commitment to quality and meeting deadlines while handling multiple priorities. Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
