Addiction Mental Health Assessor jobs in Ohio

Addiction Mental Health Assessor conducts initial and ongoing assessments of patients in Alcohol and Drug (AoD) addiction programs to determine mental health needs and establish care requirements. Provides initial treatment and refers clients to appropriate agencies/providers as needed. Being an Addiction Mental Health Assessor works with patients and families to develop appropriate chemical dependency service plans. Complies with standards in the area of evaluation, assessment, treatment, and service delivery to clients. Additionally, Addiction Mental Health Assessor requires certification as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) or similar. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Addiction Mental Health Assessor's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     What You'll Do

    Under direction of the Deputy Director of Behavioral Health Policy:

    • Provide technical expertise on policy matters
    • Recommend, develop, coordinate and/or evaluates policy
    • Establish timelines, work plans, implementation, and evaluation methods of policy proposals that have agency wide impact
    • Partner with the agency’s Legislative Liaison on impact analysis of legislative, regulatory, and other policy-related proposals impacting the Department
    • Advise and/or consult with Director, Deputy Director of Public Affairs, other staff, and stakeholders relative to existing, and proposed federal, state, and local policy initiatives
    • Support the development of new and innovative policies and practices
    • Research, design, develop and propose fiscal models to support strategic priorities of the Agency through use of knowledge and experience with insurance and public sector financing strategies, revenue cycle and translating healthcare service documentation to Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) and other required Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standard code sets and transactions
    • This position requires operational understanding of braided funding, Medicaid benefit design, and reimbursement.
    • Initiate and participate in interagency discussions on department regulations, plans, and policies
    • Collaborate, interact with other state agencies (e.g. – the Ohio Department of Medicaid, the Ohio Department of Health, the Ohio Department of Education, the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities, and the Family and Children First Council)
    • Knowledge and experience will be applied to providing OhioMHAS staff with consulting and recommendations on Ohio’s Medicaid program related to behavioral health services as well as insurance and other public funding for behavioral health services.

    This may include researching and analyzing Ohio’s regulatory framework, including Ohio Revised Code and Ohio Administrative Code, and experience with drafting Ohio Administrative Code rules, researching and analyzing federal rules and regulations on state Medicaid, Medicare, Tri-Care, exchange and employer sponsored coverage, program and coverage authority options, fiscal policy development and implementation, including working with external stakeholders, working with internal team members, and local, state and national partners

    • Support the work of other offices within the department and the efforts of ADAMH Boards, service providers and all behavioral health stakeholders in the implementation and development of programming throughout the state
    • Facilitate collaboration between stakeholders and MHAS offices
    • Support program offices with policy related guidance and communications
    • Serves as project manager for policy-related initiatives
    • Perform other related duties writes policy briefs, reports, position papers, and impact statements
    • Make presentations and speeches relative to policy goals, strategies, and perform other duties as requested
