Adult Day Care Director creates and directs programs that address the health, psychosocial, and educational needs of older individuals and their caregivers and that provide clients a safe, secure, and positive daily experience. Responsible for recruiting, training, and retention of qualified staff. Being an Adult Day Care Director manages the financial operations for the center including billing, reimbursements, and budgets. Performs assessments of prospective clients to determine if programs will meet their needs. Additionally, Adult Day Care Director coordinates with caregivers, families, social services agencies, and medical professionals to plan clients program of care. Monitors programs to ensure effectiveness, quality care, compliance with applicable regulations and standards, and to identify areas for improvement or expanded program offerings. May be a RN with experience in gerontology. Requires a bachelor's degree of social science or a directly related field. Typically reports to top management. The Adult Day Care Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be an Adult Day Care Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.   • SUMMARY: An integral team member of the adult services management team. Has oversight of all day programs and supported employment offered in the region and supports the Regional Director in managing the region. Takes the lead with regard to person-served services, placements, and assignment of caseload and oversight of each department assigned. Monitors documentation to determine that applicable timelines, licensing standards and laws and regulations are being met.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential duties include the following but not considered an inclusive list.

    • Exhibits proper cooperation/enthusiasm/interest in all areas necessary for success of FCC and associated services provided.
    • Exhibits leadership capabilities with basic knowledge of developments/trends in developmental disabilities field; personnel management; budgeting/fiscal management.
    • Responsible for interviewing/hiring/training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance/rewarding/disciplining employees; addressing complaints/resolving problems. In some situations, be directly responsible for ensuring services are provided.
    • Directly supervises all leads and staff in the areas assigned.
    • Ensures FCC Policies and Procedures are adhered to at all times.
    • Monitors subordinates to ensure FCC Policies and Procedures are adhered to at all times.
    • Stays appraised on information/new practices in serving adults with developmental disabilities. Seeks out new programs and ways to provide services to adults and their families.
    • Works closely with FCC executive management team to implement all necessary changes to assure compliance with regulatory and funding sources.
    • Develops tracking systems to assure budget expectations met for all programs in the region.
    • Assures all documentation is completed timely according to procedures.
    • Stays familiar with all laws pertaining to personnel management.
    • Assures all employees understand quality of services FCC expects to provide to person served and their families.
    • Stays well versed in FCC policies and procedures.
    • Recommends new policies and procedures for programs assigned.
    • Develops checklists for staff use to ensure procedures are followed.
    • Assures appropriate in-service training for all employees in respective division.
    • Has direct oversight to assure all required training by licensing entities met for each staff member..
    • Exhibits guidelines/regulations/laws knowledge concerning programs/supports for adults with developmental disabilities. Through consultants, stays current on changes in Medicaid/Nutrition Program regulations, Waiver, DOL, etc.
    • Works with Compliance Department to ensure all departments in full compliance.
    • Serves as Liaison with other agencies, organizations and networks serving people with developmental disabilities.
    • Monitors State/Federal legislative activities and serves as advocate pursuing legislation to benefit people with disabilities and non-profit corporations.
    • Serves as Liaison with city/county officials/civic organizations as necessary, including public schools, educational cooperatives, developmental disability services, medical community, Department of Human Services.
    • Represents FCC at professional meetings and conveys information as appropriate.
    • Actively participates in professional organizations.
    • Advocates for continued improvement/development of services for people with developmental disabilities.
    • Assures quality of supports/services in programs.
    • Assures individuals with disabilities receive needed services and innovative, personal, active, progressive, functional, related services available providing for individual choice, and appropriately monitored by Quality Assurance review.
    • Drives Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) within facilities.
    • Assures all services family centered and family friendly.
    • Assures confidentiality of person served records.
    • Assures services provided in method upholding person served dignity and civil/human rights observed and protected.
    • Assures FCC owned facilities are safe and sanitary and operate within CARF Accreditation standards..
    • Assures procedures/checklists in place for buildings, vehicles, equipment, and grounds cleanliness.
    • Assures buildings in compliance with all health/safety regulations and all necessary safety equipment available.
    • Assists Administration in preparing grants, contracts, processing funding applications; report preparation, information gathering/survey documentation; flow of correspondence to families and staff.
    • Prepares activities and reports for management guidance, including Weekly Managers, Attendance, Enrollment, Units of Service, Billing Tracking, and Marketing/Public Relations reports.
    • Attends internal/external meetings, conferences and events as required.
    • Manages implementation of Public Relations programs, with oversight of Marketing including serving as local coordinator with outside consultants/contract services in creation of specific events
    • Actively participates in fundraising and marketing campaigns.
    • Works with staff/volunteers to ensure all Fundraising/Community Relations programs consistent with overall mission/philosophy and concepts of program.
    • Exhibits job skills and personal qualities for position.
    • Initiates action with staff to implement executive decisions.
    • Makes effective use of time/scheduling and available human/material resources.
    • Works within budgetary constraints.
    • Maintains interest and enthusiasm while projecting professional image and attributes.
    • Exhibits managerial ability while showing consideration toward others.
    • Exhibits knowledge of management concepts and techniques.
    • Demonstrates resourcefulness in problem solving.
    • Oversees building Janitorial through other support.
    • Abides by Corporate Code of Ethics.
    • Serves as Driver for participant day trips to various state locations. Driving may be required on as much as a daily basis. Required to undergo periodic driving test and demonstrate proficiency in the operation of a motor vehicle, including passenger vans. Employee may also be required to drive his/her own personal vehicle at times and maintain adequate liability coverage on any personal vehicle used to transport participants.
    • This is a safety-sensitive position.

    EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four year college or university in Psychology, Business, Counseling, or Special Education and/or training in a supervisory or leadership capacity; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Specific knowledge of the field of developmental disabilities.

    Language Skills

    Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental relations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, person served, customers, and the general public.

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
