Anesthesia Technician assists Anesthesiologist by setting-up equipment and preparing medications. Orders, stocks, tests, and maintains anesthesia supplies, medications, and equipment. Being an Anesthesia Technician washes and sterilizes re-usable equipment and reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel. Performs safety checks on anesthesia equipment and assists the Anesthesiologist as needed. Additionally, Anesthesia Technician may also be required to complete Anesthesia Technician trainee program. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Anesthesia Technician works under moderate supervision. Responsibilities:
- Assist the anesthesia provider with patient care before, during, and after anesthesia procedures
- Prepare and maintain anesthesia equipment and supplies
- Handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials
- Department and hospital safety practices and procedures
- Ensure the availability of appropriate equipment for emergency situations
- Maintain accurate records of procedures and patient information
Anesthesia machine checks. leak tests, sterilization of equipment , BLS certification required.
Qualifications:
- Experience working in a hospital or acute care setting
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anesthesiology,
- Familiarity with anesthesia systems and equipment (DME)
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment such as the ICU
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols accurately
