Title: Animal Research Scientist
Location: Ridgefield , CT
Duration: 12 Month Contract
Role Overview:
Design, plan and execute experiments in a timely and independent manner leveraging scientific and technical expertise to achieve defined objectives. Independently initiate and complete routine in vivo study duties such as dosing by standard routes, identification, health monitoring and sample collection as well as tissue processing. Initiate and carry out assay development, optimization and validation as required. Utilize molecular techniques, tissue immunostaining and multi-color flow cytometry to aid in the understanding of drug mode of action. Routine maintenance of laboratory equipment. Ordering of laboratory consumables to ensure continuous supplies. Work well in a highly matrixed environment and support multiple projects at the same time. Work independently with the capability to troubleshoot experimental procedures. Provide training and guidance to laboratory personnel. Communicate own work effectively orally and in writing (writing protocols, procedures, and lab notebook). Report and treat data with a high level of integrity and ethics. Comply with applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe manner and maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies.
Skills:
Experience with animal handling, routine routes of injection, health monitoring, sample collection and tissue collection is required. Practical experience with general molecular biology techniques such as qPCR and nucleic acid extraction from tissues and cells is required. Ability to optimize and troubleshoot assays in the form of ELISA, Western blot or others is highly desirable. Practical experience with IHC/IF including downstream analysis is highly desirable. Experience in cell culture with both mammalian cell lines and primary immune cells would be a plus but is not required. Experience in other techniques and analyses including flow cytometry or tissue spatial analysis (10x visium etc.) is a plus but not required.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with three-plus (3 ) years of experience in related scientific discipline or Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in related scientific discipline or equivalent experience in related field.
