APPRAISAL MANAGER leads a team of appraisers conducting assessments, valuations, and appraisal reviews of real estate, land, and other personal property to establish the market value generally used for lending, insurance, or other purposes. Establishes processes for conducting on-site inspections of property and data collection required to perform valuations. Being an APPRAISAL MANAGER follows generally accepted appraisal practice concepts and practices to perform data analysis, develop valuation estimates, and write comprehensive reports and exhibits. Ensures appraisal documentation and appraiser certification comply with all regulations. Additionally, APPRAISAL MANAGER performs appraisal quality reviews to ensure appropriate valuation and minimize risk. Creates process efficiencies with appraisal software tools and databases. May require a bachelor's degree. Has the Member of the Appraisal Institute (SRPA) or similar designation. Requires a State Appraiser License. Typically reports to a director. The APPRAISAL MANAGER manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Job Purpose: The purpose of the Appraisal Manager is to ensure an unassailable appraisal report and timely delivery by reviewing each appraisal report for excellence, managing the appraisal team, and collaboratively developing effective and efficient production systems.
A successful Appraisal Manager will supervise and manage the appraisal team (Commercial and Residential Appraisers, Analysts, and Inspectors) to produce timely high-quality appraisals that are consistently high quality. They will utilize their subject matter experience as a source of knowledge for their team (Commercial and Residential Appraisers, Analysts, and Inspectors), and they pride themselves on always delivering outstanding work product. The Appraisal Manager reports directly to the Director of Operations. They will engage with the Keystone leadership team to assist with client feedback, and find creative solutions to increase efficiency.
Job Duties:
- Manage a team of Commercial and Residential Appraisers, Analysts, and Inspectors
o Supervise, train, and provide direction appraising property
- Assign appraisal projects to the staff appraisers
o Manage workflow for effective and fair team workloads
o Ensure accurate scope of work communication to production team
o Manage accurate and timely software entries for workflow
- Review overall performance of the appraisal team, in collaboration with the Dir. of Operations
- Monitor and manage appraisal workflow to ensure timely delivery
o Review completed appraisal reports for accuracy and clarity
o Produce high quality appraisal reports that meet Keystone standards of excellence
- Provide status updates of appraisal projects to the Director of Operations
- Assist with writing of appraisal reports as needed as capacity warrants
- Communicate responsively and collaboratively with colleagues and direct reports
- Execute appraisal goals/outcomes established with the Keystone leadership team
- Support leadership initiatives
- Keep abreast of macro and micro industry trends within commercial and residential real estate industries
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Certified General licensure | 5 years of experience at CG level
- Advanced market knowledge of multiple asset types
- Strong analytical abilities and critical thinking skills
- High emotional intelligence and team leadership skills
- A self-starter mentality and experience taking ownership of projects with limited direction
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management and organization skills, as well as the ability to execute on multiple projects with overlapping timelines
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project Management software
This is an onsite position with a hybrid work dynamic.
