RULES & REGULATIONS:

Follow all rules and regulations of the WIAA, including preparing eligibility lists, submitting schedules, dues, team records, and other documents that pertain to WIAA.

Follow all school rules and regulations.

Communicate and enforce that all high school and middle school athletes will be supervised at all times.
-
Work with Commandant in resolving problems of discipline concerning athletes.
ATHLETIC ADMINISTRATION:
-
Maintain and be proficient in rSchool and theArbiter for all interscholastic athletic events and officials’ contracts.
-
Scheduling and contracting of interscholastic athletic events (rSchool).
-
Contracting of certified officials for all home athletic events (rSchool & Arbiter).
-
Continual monitoring of the athletic budget.
-
Involvement in plans to improve our athletic facilities and coordinate those plans with necessary staff members.
-
Serve as team leader for one of the Academy’s chaperon teams.
-
Maintain accountability of cadets during the daily sports period by establishing effective attendance procedures and ensuring that all coaches have updated sports attendance rosters.
SUPPLIES, EQUIPMENT, & UNIFORMS:
-
Monitor all athletic equipment to ensure that it is maintained in safe condition.
-
Keep an updated inventory of all athletic equipment and uniforms.
-
Inspect all athletic areas for cleanliness and the proper storage of all athletic supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
-
Provide each coach with equipment, team medical supplies, and uniforms prior to the season, and ensures that each coach returns all equipment, unused supplies, and uniforms using a checklist.
EVENTS
-
Be present as a Contest Manager for each home contest or have an alternate available.
-
Schedule the use of all athletic facilities and fields for high school and middle school games and practices following school procedure (rSchool).

Coordinate with the facilities supervisor to see that all playing surfaces are properly conditioned for all home games, and coordinated with non-school personnel for the use of non-school playing facilities, if necessary.

Coordinate with non-school personnel the use of non-school athletic facilities and grounds.
-
Assume responsibility for cancellation of games as circumstances require to protect athletic participants and school resources and rescheduling in the event of cancellation and notification to facilities supervisor (rSchool).
TRANSPORTATION
-
Verify that all participants have proper permission forms for alternative transportation if requested.
-
Communicate the athletic transportation policy to all coaches responsible for away game transportation.
COMMUNICATION
-
Speak and present athletic awards at all athletic ceremonies.
-
Conduct athlete, parent and coaches’ meetings as needed.
-
Maintain an open line of communication with local athletic teams regarding use of SJNMA athletic facilities and fields and accommodate if possible.
-
Maintain an open and constant line of communication with assistant athletic director to fulfill both the middle school and high school athletic programs.
-
Promote and model good sportsmanship and maintain an active program that welcomes competing teams, guests, and game officials.

Coordinate publicity and news releases to the media with Public Relations.
-
Ensure that post season summaries are prepared for each team and placed in the permanent records for SJNMA athletics.
-
Represent SJNMA at all Midwest Classic Conference (MCC) meetings.
-
Ensure SJNMA adheres to all MCC bylaws.
-
Serve as MCC chairman in one of the interscholastic sports.
-
Maintain statistics for the MCC sport which SJNMA chairs.
-
Hold Conference Advisory meetings and coordinate the All-Conference meeting for the MCC sport which SJNMA chairs.

Represent SJNMA at all WIAA meetings.
-
Represent SJNMA at all Wisconsin Athletic Director Association (WADA) meetings.

Returning correspondence to colleges and universities about all potential athletes.
-
Ensuring that those athletes planning to participate in athletics at NCAA Division I or II schools are properly registered with the NCAA Clearinghouse.

Athletic Department point of contact for Admissions during prospective cadet family tours.

SUPERVISION

Supervise and evaluate all coaches on an annual basis. Including:

Familiar with preventing, diagnosing, and caring for sports injuries.

Certified in First Aid & CPR

Attain a Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
- Interview and make recommendations for renewing and hiring of new coaches.

Report all hires for background investigation processes.

Issue all athletic contracts.

Provide orientation and in-service programs for coaches.

Revise as needed Academy criteria for evaluating, renewing, and hiring of coaches annual contracts.

Work with the Vice President in problems of discipline concerning coaches.

Supervision of each coach’s techniques and effectiveness.

Ensuring that all head coaches of interscholastic teams attend the mandatory WIAA rules interpretation meetings for their sport(s).
QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Provides administrative leadership in planning, implementation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of interscholastic athletic programs for the high school and middle school. The athletic director promotes extracurricular athletic activity that fosters skill development, understanding of sports, and appreciation for a variety of athletic activities and programs, teams, and sportsmanship for students and adults.
