    About The Role

The private baseball development industry is broken.

Pitching lessons, 3-day Clinics & 6-week Velo Programs don't create lasting results.

At Tread, we measure Athletes in years, not sessions.

Our Performance Coaches occupy a unique space in the player development world, training thousands of baseball players from High Schoolers to Perennial MLB All-Stars remotely, in addition to hundreds on-site in our state-of-the-art, 33,000 square foot Headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina.

As our Assistant Director of Performance, you will serve in the Personnel Management function within our Performance Department helping to oversee, support, & unlock the full potential of our 40 Performance Coaches & counting…

You will maintain a constant pulse on issues within the Performance Department, build strong relationships with our staff, run Performance Reviews, analyze data/build systems to improve workflow, and assist with onboarding new coaches into the department.

You will help maintain the high standards we hold for our coaches – challenging them and supporting their professional and personal growth, in addition to upholding accountability to Tread's policies and expectations.

This role is about being an active problem-solver to improve employee and company outcomes, not a passive listener or an outlet for complaining. An exceptional candidate understands this distinction and will be able to maintain and build upon a culture of excellence, growth, and accountability.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conducting Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Performance Reviews.
    • Initiating daily & weekly touch-points with Performance Staff to support productivity.
    • Identifying, monitoring, & improving individual KPIs of the Performance Staff.
    • Collecting, analyzing and documenting data related to Employee Satisfaction, Performance and Retention
    • Preparing systems to aid the Performance Staff in optimizing workflow, time management, and efficiency.
    • Collaborating with Tread’s Director of Performance & Executive Staff to enhance Performance Department outcomes.
    • Maintaining a constant pulse on Performance Staff, while being a stop-gap for Performance Department issues before filtering them up the ladder.
    • Enforcing and upholding company policies and expectations.
    • Assisting with Recruiting/Hiring processes, as needed.
    • Assisting with Employee Onboarding/Continuing Education/ Off-Boarding processes, as needed.

    Skills & Qualifications

    • You have a coaching background in Baseball.
    • You have Sports Management experience, leading a small to medium-sized team of 20 individuals before.
    • You possess a strong Player Development knowledge base (proficiency with biomechanics, S&C, pitch tracking technology, sports nutrition concepts, etc.).

    What We're Looking For

    • You’re a people person. You thrive at building trust and creating strong relationships.
    • You're an active listener. You're interested in best serving your team and receptive to constructive feedback.
    • You're a builder by nature. You believe in a strong foundation and aren't deterred by the long way.
    • You're detail-oriented. You're interested in the finer details to ensure compliance & continuity. Devils in the details.
    • You possess 80-grade professionalism. You set the tone for how to present yourself and interact with staff, parents and athletes alike.
    • You’re a problem-solver. You seek to first understand problems, then try to solve them independently before filtering them up the chain for feedback.
    • You’re athlete-first. You believe in Tread’s greater purpose of helping athletes reach their dreams – and to help them avoid the same mistakes that plagued the generation before them.
    • You’re relentless. You're 10/10 ambitious and your mind is always processing how to optimize and push your team to a new level.
    • You still train. You take your health and training seriously, leading Staff & Athletes by example.
    • You're an elite communicator. You have exceptional written and verbal communication skills. You know how to write out clear, well-formatted emails/memos and navigate diverse personalities with elite feel and tact.

    About Us

Since 2015, we’ve quietly built a company that has carved out a substantial niche in the baseball world, coaching more than 5,000 athletes, including 150 Draftees/Signees & 150 Big Leaguers.

We’re a company by athletes, for athletes. We’re built by coaches who have firsthand experience of the same struggles and issues that our athletes are going through and can help them navigate towards their dreams using cutting-edge, evidence-based methods.

We’re a team of talented, obsessive, curious, and quirky individuals who feed off of each other’s personalities to drive forward innovations in content, training, and products for the baseball community.
