Assistant Pharmacy Director assists department head in daily duties and assumes responsibility in his/her absence. Oversees pharmacists and provides pharmacy services. Being an Assistant Pharmacy Director compounds and dispenses medications and other pharmaceuticals. Typically requires a master's degree in pharmacy or doctor of pharmacy. Additionally, Assistant Pharmacy Director requires state Pharmacist License. Typically reports to top management. The Assistant Pharmacy Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an Assistant Pharmacy Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. This position is accountable for producing the following result: To provide support to the pharmacist and provide courteous expeditious service to our prescription customers. This includes: answering phones and answering questions in the pharmacy, managing the drive thru pick up window, checking out patients, and checking in incoming orders.
If interested, this position includes training as a pharmacy technician. Technician responsibilities include but is not limited to: calling patients daily, inputting Rx data, answering phone calls, billing and trouble shooting third party claims, vaccinating patients, performing point of care tests, simple Rx compounding, assisting with clinical documentation of services performed, maintaining proper Rx stock, communicating with physicians, accurately filling prescriptions and maintaining cleanliness and order in the pharmacy department.

Education, Certification/License, and Experience Required
