Position Summary:
To assist the principal as an instructional leader in promoting the education and well-being of each student in the school.
Essential Functions
1. Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school. Serves as principal in the absence of the principal.
2. Assists the principal in the implementation of system wide data analysis, curriculum plans methods of instruction and standards-based instruction.
3. Serves with parents, faculty, and student groups on committees as requested in order to advance educational and related activities and objectives.
4. Participates in the planning and development of system-wide curriculum proposals, new programs for organization of instruction and plans and procedures for the improvement of the school organization.
5. Assists in the development and implementation of plans for continuous evaluation of the effectiveness of the total school program.
6. Evaluates portions of the teaching and support staff. Serve as administrative liaison to specified departments.
7. Manages students including but not limited to: discipline, attendance, truancy, excessive absences, academic issues, health concerns, classroom behavior, harassment, etc.
8. Serves as the LEA representative for students, including IEP meetings, checking IEP paperwork, student discipline and attendance, involved in DPI complaints and working with parents and parent advocates.
9. Participates in teacher and support hiring processes (screen files, conduct interviews, check references, coordinates with Human Resources) as assigned by the building principal.
10. Prepares the Yearly School Report Card with the appropriate data needed for DPI reporting.
11. Conducts grade level orientation meetings to discuss and review district policies, school rules, and administrative guidelines.
12. Oversees beginning and end of the year programs and assemblies, student registration, senior breakaway, yearbook distribution night, and other similar activities and programs.
13. Coordinates parent/teacher conferences and appropriate communications to staff and parents.
14. Supervises wide variety of evening and weekend co-curricular activities including athletic events, concerts, musical and dramatic performances, student dances, etc.
15. Coordinates beginning of the year in-service and meetings for first year teachers, student teachers, and new teachers.
16. Coordinates all parts of the end-of-the-year graduation ceremony, Senior Honors Award Program, and organize the fall and spring academic awards programs.
17. Assists principal in the maintenance of the building as well as directing custodial staff when needed.
18. Assists with the coordination of state testing.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
1. Valid Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction administrator and teacher certification.
2. A master’s degree in educational administration from an accredited university.
