The Department of Natural Sciences at Concordia University, Irvine, CA, invites applications for a full-time faculty member in Biology beginning in July 2024. The individual should demonstrate excellence in teaching and scholarship in the discipline of biology. Concordia seeks an individual who values a Christian educational approach to higher learning and who will promote the mission, purpose, and objectives of the university, committed to the Lutheran liberal arts tradition. Rank and salary will be determined by credentials and experience. Qualifications: Terminal degree (PhD) in biology (or closely related field) is preferred. A MS in biology with appropriate professional experiences will be considered. Competencies in bioinformatics, computational biology, microbiologists, immunologists, developmental biologists or biomedical engineering are also desirable. Appointment: The position is a full-time position that will require being on the Irvine campus and comes with rights as a full-time faculty member. The faculty member will teach courses in our Enduring Questions and Ideas (Q&I) Core Curriculum and other courses in the department, as well filling roles in advising, mentoring, assessment, program recruitment, undergraduate research and university service. They will be expected to participate in events related to the Q&I Curriculum on campus, including convocations and requirements of full-time faculty with respect to service to the Institution, the Academy, as well as to the church and community.
