Assoc. Professor - Geological Sciences teaches courses in the discipline area of geological sciences. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Assoc. Professor - Geological Sciences provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Assoc. Professor - Geological Sciences typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has considerable experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and conducts research and case studies in field of interest and may publish findings in trade journals or textbooks. Geological Technician, Surface/Underground

  • Nevada Copper (TSX:NCU) is a copper producer and owner of the Pumpkin Hollow copper project. Located in Nevada, USA, Pumpkin Hollow has substantial reserves and resources including copper, gold, and silver. Its two fully permitted projects include the high-grade underground mine and processing facility, which is now in the production stage, and a large-scale open pit project, which is advancing towards feasibility status.

    Purpose of the Position:

    The Geological Technician position will be responsible for all aspects of core/sample management and daily recordkeeping. The person will also be trained in geotechnical logging of the core. This position will interface with geologists, assay labs, and geological supply companies.

    Accountability:

    The Geological Technician reports directly to the Chief Mine Geologist.

    Responsibilities and Duties: (Assigned job tasks/duties are not limited to the essential functions)

    • Arrange core on logging benches for data collection.
    • Ability to cut core.
    • Ensure accurate documentation of core/sample collection and photographic data.
    • Manage core storage and core shed organization.
    • Input core/sample data within the available database.
    • Operate a forklift for core handling and organization.
    • Trained to assist in geotechnical logging

    Knowledge/Education:

    The Geological Technician must be technically proficient with the following:

    • Preferably one year or more experience.
    • Previous experience in data collection and databases preferred.
    • Knowledge of geotechnical logging preferred.
    • Must have a serious commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting goals and deadlines.

    Skills/Abilities:

    The Geological Technician (Underground) must demonstrate the following skills and abilities:

    • Ability to facilitate collaboration and interaction with individuals and groups including contractors, suppliers, and vendor partners.
    • Ability to develop and maintain positive relations with others.
    • Computer skills including experience with Word & Excel
    • Ability and willingness to work indoors and outdoors throughout the year, with little supervision.
    • Ability to handle vehicles and navigate dirt roads making decisions to prevent property damage and safety events.
    • Written and verbal communication skills with various levels of employees
    • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

    Physical Demands:

    The incumbent must demonstrate the following physical demands:

    • Lift and potentially carry up to 50-75 lbs.
    • Operate a vehicle with a valid driver’s license
    • Climb stairwells and be capable of working on elevated platforms
    • Walk on uneven and poorly lit ground
    • Periodically work in adverse weather conditions
    • Sit for extended periods of time
    • Stay alert during periods of inactivity
    • The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
    • The ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hand, and wrists

    Work Schedule and Personal Protective Equipment:

    The incumbent is expected to work a 40-hour /week schedule with occasional overtime. Personal Protective Equipment required for the fieldwork portion of this position includes but is not limited to, a hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots. All equipment will be MSHA-approved as applicable.
