Associate Dean of Sciences assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of science. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Sciences provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Sciences typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Sciences typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. POSITION SUMMARY
The Dean is responsible for the smooth and efficient functioning of the School of Arts and Sciences. The area includes degrees and certificates in a variety of areas. This position is responsible for all matters relating to instruction, finances, personnel, and the equitable operations of Arts and Sciences courses to ensure high quality programs of instruction. This position is an integral part of the Dean/AVP team, which works together to uphold the mission and vision of the institution through innovation and cooperation between academic and student affairs. This position reports to the Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA).
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Dean manages employees and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this school in accordance with the institution's policies and applicable laws. This position is responsible for all employees in Arts and Sciences.
