    General Job Summary

    The Associate Dean is responsible for aligning the operational and strategic functions of the Industrial Technologies department with the college’s broader goals. This role requires exemplary leadership in managing daily academic operations, supporting student success, and fostering faculty and staff development, ensuring that all activities reflect the core values of Kirkwood Community College. The Industrial Technologies department includes disciplines in accredited applied science programs.

    The work schedule for this position will typically be Monday through Friday from 8am to 5 pm.

    Duties/Responsibilities

    • Manage day-to-day program operations including student needs and concerns, student and faculty inclusivity, supervising office staff, faculty communications, and other departmental activities.
    • Plan, coordinate and be accountable for the execution of Industrial Technology department initiatives within the department as well as across the broader college.
    • Monitor student enrollment; work collaboratively to develop marketing, recruitment, and retention strategies with the Dean, Operations, and related department staff.
    • Lead and supervise adjunct faculty, including those teaching courses at off-site locations to ensure curriculum consistency.
    • Assist with the planning, implementation, and assessment of college initiatives
    • Develop, implement, and oversee applicable program goals, operating policies, and procedures in collaboration with the Dean, Staff, and Sector Coordinators.
    • Assist in faculty workload decisions to ensure appropriate staffing, equity, and efficient resource utilization.
    • Contribute in cultivating an environment dedicated to the well-being and professional growth of all faculty and staff members.
    • Facilitate the implementation of strategic projects and initiatives, from idea through action to evaluation.
    • Review department budget allocation and monitoring in collaboration with the Dean.
    • Provide leadership and point of contact for faculty and staff in the absence of the Dean.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Master's degree from an accredited higher education institution.
    • Experience or education in an Industrial Technologies discipline or demonstrated management experience with Career and Technical Education programming.
    • Demonstrated teaching experience.
    • Strong leadership skills with proven success in strategic planning and effective implementation of major educational initiatives.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Community college and/or adult teaching experience.
    • Proven experience in curriculum design and program development aligned with accreditation standards.
    • Demonstrated successful teaching in a program related to Industrial Technologies.
    • Prior experience with and understanding of the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) principles and tools.
