Associate Financial Aid Director assists in the operation of the financial aid program. Instructs students and parents on the application for loans or scholarships. Being an Associate Financial Aid Director maintains records of scholarships, grants, and other monetary assistance. Has knowledge of available private, state, and federal financial aid programs. Additionally, Associate Financial Aid Director typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to the Financial Aid Director. The Associate Financial Aid Director manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. Job Description:
1) Provide quality customer service to prospective and continuing students regarding financial aid eligibility
2) Inform students and parents of available financial aid programs, including preparing informational brochures, holding financial aid awareness programs, and offering financial aid counseling
3) Manage the application, award, and disbursement process of federal, state, and institutional aid. Plan and coordinate the effective allocation of financial aid resources
4) Maintain all financial aid records and ensure compliance with all applicable recordkeeping and reporting requirements
5) Establish the procedures necessary for all new programs and maintain the policies and procedures for all current programs to ensure compliance with all regulations
6) Audit financial aid files for accuracy and completeness
7) Cooperate and assist audit personnel with the annual financial audit
8) Prepare FISAP Report submitted to the Department of Education annually
9) Prepare all reports needed on financial aid for other outside organizations/agencies and present information when needed
10) Actively participate in professional organizations and seek further professional development
11) Study legislation and instructional materials for all federal and state programs
12) Evaluate unusual/mitigating circumstance documentation or information provided by the student
13) Exercise judgment by making adjustments or revisions to costs, contribution, or dependency status as exceptions to the prescribed process
14) All other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Enrollment Services
Required Qualifications:
· Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
· 4 years of financial aid experience
· Understand and adhere to the values, vision, and mission of Meridian Community College
· Strong communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
· Previous experience with Banner (Ellucian)
· Experience directly supervising others
· 5 years of financial aid experience
