    Mount St. Joseph University is a private institution founded in 1920 by the Sisters of Charity emphasizing values, integrity and social responsibility. The Physical Therapy department is housed within the School of Health Sciences. Opportunities for interprofessional collaboration exist within the School of Health Sciences (including Speech, Hearing and Language Sciences, Physician Assistant, Nursing, Social Work, and Exercise Science and Integrative Health programs).

     

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The general responsibilities of teaching faculty are described in the Mount St Joseph University EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK which is available through MyMount.

    • Provide instruction and assessment in advanced clinical skills curriculum (acute care/cardiopulmonary, neurologic, pediatric or geriatric curriculum equal to 24 contact hours annually)
      • Selects, plans, organizes and implements learning experiences in assigned courses which assist students to meet course and program outcomes.
      • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of the subject matter.
      • Demonstrates an ability to integrate related content areas.
      • Uses creativity in developing an interactive learning environment.
      • Evaluates students based on course outcomes, identifies strengths and areas needing improvement, and facilitates the development of strategies for improvement and mastery of subject area.
      • Supervises course adjuncts, if relevant
    • Provides mentorship to student advisees
    • Contributes to the development, evaluation, and revision of the curriculum.
    • Serves on department committees and contributes to the success of program recruitment, admission, retention, evaluation, progression, graduation, and licensure
    • Represents the program to the health care community and community at large.
    • Maintains clinical practice (8 hours per week are set aside for practice)
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the department chair.
    • Acts in accord with the department’s professional and ethical standards.

     

    Qualifications


    • Current State of Ohio PT license (or eligible with license obtained prior to start of position)
    • Degree in Physical Therapy
      • BSPT, MPT or DPT plus earned terminal degree (Ph.D., Ed.D., DHSc.) is preferred
      • DPT plus ABPTS certification is acceptable
        • Specialty certification in neurologic, cardiopulmonary, pediatric or geriatric physical therapy (NCS, CCS, PCS, GCS) or being willing to acquire certification
    • Minimum 5 years of clinical practice in physical therapy, with inpatient setting expertise
    • Prior teaching experience in higher education is preferred
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Commitment to advancing the justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion of the program and university
