Position Summary
A banquet server delivers food and drinks to guests at large events, parties, and weddings. The responsibilities of this position include serving food, helping set up and break down the event, all while providing excellent customer service to guests. A banquet server maintains professionalism and courtesy for both clients and coworkers. They provide prompt, efficient service in addition to creating a warm, welcoming environment for event guests. This job is a split between serving guests and setting up/ breaking down events. A banquet server is a tipped position for the service portion of the events.- A banquet server must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays & special events as needed
- Provide assistance to event sales manager in serving of guests during banquet and event functions to ensure a positive guest experience.
- Fully set-up of an event. This may include setting up tables, chairs, pipe and drape, linens, dishware, flatware and stemware, decor. This also includes food prep and table set up. Will sometimes include printing menus or signage for specific events
- Full breakdown of an event per specifications on reservation and BEOS, or as given by the Event Sales Manager/ supervisor. This includes vacuuming of floors, cleaning of walls, windows, and mirrors; proper care, movement, and storage of equipment, including tables, chairs, risers, dance floors and lecterns as required. This also includes removing trash, clearing dirty plates, cups, glasses, and/or linens; straightening chairs; and replenishing water as specified or requested.
- Adhere to banquet and event service standards and operating procedures
- Welcome guests and respond to their requests in a courteous, professional and friendly manner.
- Serve food and beverage in appropriate order and be aware of the expectations of the Supervisor so as to ensure consistency of standards throughout the banquet and or event.
- Having a positive attitude, communication with Supervisors, team work ethic, following directions accurately, and possessing care for the highest standards of customer service are a must.
- This position requires an eye for detail. Must be organized and able to decorate a room with minimal direction
- Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education/Experience- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum 18 Years of Age
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in hotel, restaurant, casino, entertainment, retail or catering environments with a strong emphasis in customer service.
- Or two (2) to three (3) years in the customer service industry in a fast paced environment
- Shall possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by agencies insurance.
- Must have or obtain Food Handlers certification upon hire and Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Alcohol Certificate upon hire. Certifications must be maintained during employment.
- Basic personal computer skills and InfoGenesis POS operations
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Fluent in Both Written and Spoken English
- Must be able to read a room set up map and follow those directions to effect the proper set up every time.
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- Reliable transportation is a must
- Must be able to work with American Indian people and be sensitive to their culture.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
- Participate in proactive team efforts of Bear River Casino Resort to include all marketing events.
- AV equipment knowledge is a plus
- Ability to Work Quickly and as a Team in a Fast Paced Work Environment
- Maintain a Positive and Professional Attitude and Appearance
- Excellent oral communication skills required.
