Behavioral Health Director oversees the study and treatment of patients with emotional, mental, or psychological disorders. Develops, implements, and updates strategic initiatives, programs, and services. Being a Behavioral Health Director manages and directs the operations of behavioral health services. Uses knowledge of behavioral health research and trends to ensure the department's practices are up-to-date and effective. Additionally, Behavioral Health Director establishes training programs and supports and supervises staff. Ensures all behavioral health operations comply with clinical guidelines and regulations. Requires an advanced degree in psychology or related field. Typically reports to top management. The Behavioral Health Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Behavioral Health Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. Responsibilities- Oversee, train, coach, and mentor a team of Licensed Behavioral Health Professionals in a correctional healthcare environment
- On-site program supervisor providing overall program direction ensuring compliance with HRS licensure standards
- Provide crisis management counseling, and/or short-term therapy to patients as appropriate to the position
- Prepare treatment and follow-up care programs, including providing therapeutic crisis intervention and emergency services as required
- Initiate an interdisciplinary treatment plan and participates in the ongoing treatment planning process
- Lead the review of clinical issues and program policies and procedures
- Consult and direct behavioral health practitioners and related staff, as appropriate in the performance of therapeutic and/or casework
- Master's Degree in Social Work or related field
- Current state Mental Health Professional license
- Must be located in close proximity to Fort Myers, Florida
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to pass pre-employment Level 2 clearance to include background check and drug screen
