The Full-time Captain will serve as part of the Fire Chief’s leadership team. The primary focus of this position is emergency readiness/preparedness i.e. training, apparatus, and supporting company-level operations. While on shift, the Captain will perform, direct, and lead operational-level activities, and make or assist in decision-making regarding fire department operations. This will include resource/personnel utilization and deployment during emergencies. Depending on available resources, the Captain will directly participate in suppression/mitigation efforts and ensure that operations are within the current department Standard Operating Procedures and Guidelines. The Captain may, when assigned, fill the roles and responsibilities of the Chief Officers, which may include staffing an assigned command car and direct responses.
