Benefits Manager develops, implements, administers, and maintains benefits programs, policies, and procedures. Ensures programs are equitable, meet employee needs, comply with legal requirements, and are cost effective. Being a Benefits Manager develops benefits communications and counsels employees on benefits related issues. Evaluates existing benefits programs against peer organizations to determine competitiveness, trends and developments. Additionally, Benefits Manager requires a bachelor's degree. May require Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS). Typically reports to director. The Benefits Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Benefits Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Has the ability to perform all functions of supervised positions.
- Supervises, trains and manages the work of benefits staff.
- Provides administrative service and information to employees and benefit program administrators regarding group life, health/dental benefits, and pension plan.
- Coordinates employee enrollment into benefit and pension plans within the time limits; facilitates annual open enrollment.
- Collects, compiles, and analyzes information and data to verify the accuracy in calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies.
- Maintains statistical data pertaining to premiums, claims, and cost.
- Resolves administrative problems by working closely with the carrier representative and accounting department.
- Maintains computer filing maintenance system including files of benefits history, data, correspondence, reports, and forms.
- Coordinates and/or conducts sessions with individual and group training programs.
- Is responsible for medical billing and statements.
- Monitors leaves of absence and tracks for benefits compliance.
- Assists in filing IRS 1095 for ACA reporting.
- Acts as a contact person for all benefit programs.
- Maintains knowledge of all events in the property as a whole.
- Attends and/or facilitates all mandatory meetings and training.
- Maintains confidentiality at all times.
- Is sensitive to Native American Culture.
- Operates within the parameters of the Leech Lake Gaming Human Resource Policy, Departmental Policy Manual and all Tribal Internal Controls (TICs), and all other applicable regulations.
- Secures the assets of Leech Lake Gaming and the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe.
