Benefits Manager develops, implements, administers, and maintains benefits programs, policies, and procedures. Ensures programs are equitable, meet employee needs, comply with legal requirements, and are cost effective. Being a Benefits Manager develops benefits communications and counsels employees on benefits related issues. Evaluates existing benefits programs against peer organizations to determine competitiveness, trends and developments. Additionally, Benefits Manager requires a bachelor's degree. May require Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS). Typically reports to director. The Benefits Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Benefits Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The role…
    The Benefits Manager is responsible for benefits administration (self-insured and fully insured plans), plan design, policies and procedures, employee communication including eligibility and open enrollment, employee medical leave and disability administration, wellness initiatives, internal procedural and governmental compliance, financial transactions, recordkeeping, government and internal reporting, vendor contracts and relationships, plan documents, and liaison with brokers. The successful candidate will also be able to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing laws and regulations and updates to legal requirements.

    How you’ll make an impact…
    • Partner with HR leadership team to align Benefit and Total Rewards strategy.
    • Maintain in-depth knowledge of current legislation as well as compliance to state and federal regulations.
    • Select, implement, administer and maintain employee benefits programs, policies and procedures that meet employee needs and comply with legal requirements.
    • Evaluate performance of benefits programs with the goal of creating an attractive, competitive and cost-effective benefits program.
    • Collect data on industry standards and practices, study trends and developments in benefits to determine competitive positioning of the company’s benefit offerings.
    • Monitor claims to evaluate TPA and vendor performance, spot trends, prepare reports.
    • Regularly renegotiates or re-evaluate vendors in search of opportunities for cost savings.
    What do you bring…
    • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • CEBS and SHRM-CP certification preferred
    • At least 10 years’ experience as benefits manager or related role.
    • Extensive knowledge of state and federal regulations, benefits, leave and compensation programs, policies, procedures and applicable legislation.
    • Effective analytical, problem solving and decision making.
    • Excellent communication, strong professional demeanor and ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
