The role…
The Benefits Manager is responsible for benefits administration (self-insured and fully insured plans), plan design, policies and procedures, employee communication including eligibility and open enrollment, employee medical leave and disability administration, wellness initiatives, internal procedural and governmental compliance, financial transactions, recordkeeping, government and internal reporting, vendor contracts and relationships, plan documents, and liaison with brokers. The successful candidate will also be able to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing laws and regulations and updates to legal requirements.
How you’ll make an impact…- Partner with HR leadership team to align Benefit and Total Rewards strategy.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of current legislation as well as compliance to state and federal regulations.
- Select, implement, administer and maintain employee benefits programs, policies and procedures that meet employee needs and comply with legal requirements.
- Evaluate performance of benefits programs with the goal of creating an attractive, competitive and cost-effective benefits program.
- Collect data on industry standards and practices, study trends and developments in benefits to determine competitive positioning of the company’s benefit offerings.
- Monitor claims to evaluate TPA and vendor performance, spot trends, prepare reports.
- Regularly renegotiates or re-evaluate vendors in search of opportunities for cost savings.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CEBS and SHRM-CP certification preferred
- At least 10 years’ experience as benefits manager or related role.
- Extensive knowledge of state and federal regulations, benefits, leave and compensation programs, policies, procedures and applicable legislation.
- Effective analytical, problem solving and decision making.
- Excellent communication, strong professional demeanor and ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
