Bindery Technician performs various machine and manual operations to complete print binding and finishing processes. Completes tasks including measuring, cutting, collating, inserting, folding, stapling, or gluing to produce finished bound products. Being a Bindery Technician sets up, operates, tends, and maintains bindery equipment. Inspects equipment for malfunctions, troubleshoots and resolves problems. Additionally, Bindery Technician follows all required quality and safety procedures. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Bindery Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate bindery equipment such as cutting machines, folding machines, and stitching machines
- Read job orders and blueprints to determine specifications and instructions
- Adjust machine settings to ensure proper alignment, cutting depth, and folding accuracy
- Monitor machine operation to detect any malfunctions or defects
- Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance
- Inspect finished products for quality control and make adjustments as necessary
Experience:
- Previous experience operating bindery equipment in a print advertising or similar environment
- Familiarity with machining principles and CNC technology
- Knowledge of layout design and typography
- Ability to operate a forklift is a plus
