Biomedical Engineer applies engineering and scientific principles and methodologies to design and develop medical technologies and devices to support and enhance patient care and improve healthcare outcomes. Conducts research and testing to address specific medical conditions, improve the performance of existing devices, and develop new products. Being a Biomedical Engineer collaborates with medical professionals to gather information for product specifications. Ensures that designs and devices meet regulatory, safety, and quality requirements and standards, such as the FDA regulations and ISO standards. Additionally, Biomedical Engineer utilizes or develops software to perform testing or integrate with devices. Requires a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering or a related engineering or science discipline. Typically reports to a manager. The Biomedical Engineer work is closely managed.   • Summary

    Under supervision of the Director of Applications Development and the Biomedical Manager, repairs, calibrates, and maintains complex medical equipment and instrumentation used in the health care delivery field. Inspects and installs medical and related technical equipment in medical facilities. Services various complex clinical equipment and life-support apparatus such as patient monitors, electrocardiographs, laboratory analyzers, x-ray units, defibrillator's, electrosurgical units, anesthesia apparatus, pacemakers, blood pressure monitors, ventilators, sterilizers, networked equipment and other related technical configurations.

    Education

    Two years of formal training, or education beyond high school, in the service and maintenance of biomedical equipment. This may include military training on electronics or medical equipment.

    Certification, Registration & Licensure

    Licensure required: Current valid New Hampshire Driver's License.

    Experience

    Three years related experience in repair and maintenance of medical equipment.

    Schedule

    Monday - Friday

    8 hour shifts

    Responsibilities

    • Performs repairs and calibrations on equipment.
    • Performs preventive maintenance on equipment.
    • Performs documentation of work performed, inventories and histories.
    • Acts as a resource and trainer for team.
    • Leads team in departmental initiatives.
    • Manages workload and processes.
    • Utilizes outside vendor assistance and monitors their performance.
    • Assists in developing policies and procedures related to the operations of the department.
    • Complies with Concord Hospital, ITS or Biomedical Engineering Policies and Procedures.
    • Participates in, supports, and champions the outcomes of ITS process improvement initiatives.
