Additionally, Bookstore Director - Higher Ed. prepares and manages the staff work schedule so that the store is adequately staffed. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a senior institutional officer. The Bookstore Director - Higher Ed. manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Bookstore Director - Higher Ed. typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required. The Director ensures client, customer service/satisfaction with efficient cost-effective management that both meets and exceeds stated expectations. They are responsible for all foodservice-related activities for their area including quality improvement, associate coaching, sanitation, and client-related activities.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Manages salaried managers and hourly associates in the assigned food service area
    • Leads aspects of the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the account
    • Interviews, hires, and trains associates; plans, assigns, and directs work; appraises performance; rewards and motivates associates; addresses concerns and resolves problems
    • Prepares and manages annual budget
    • Utilize company systems for completion of required daily/weekly/monthly reports such as inventory, cash reports, production records, payroll/time-keeping, etc.
    • Leads and participates in the preparation and service of food and beverage items in adherence to company food standards for preparation, presentation, sanitation and safety (meeting HACCP and OSHA guidelines) and portion control
