Develops broad knowledge and understanding of bank products and policies. Additionally, Branch Management Trainee requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members.     JOB DESCRIPTION:

    Postdoctoral Fellowship in aging and health service research under the multidisciplinary mentorship of Dr. Yong-Fang Kuo, Dr. Mukaila Raji, and Dr. Ming Tzeng, with expertise in health service research, data science, medicine, dementia care, nursing, and community engagement. This training program is provided by the National Institute on Aging, National Institutes of Health (grant # 1R01AG083102-01).

    Interested applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. With reasonable progress, the appointment is expected to last up to two years, beginning in May 2024.

    School of Nursing at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) at Galveston, Texas, seeks to fill one postdoctoral fellowship position in aging and health services research. We seek a researcher with expertise in health services research, aging, gerontology, or population aging broadly and with an interest in qualitative studies. Interested applicants must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

    As part of the National Institute on Aging, National Institutes of Health, research team (grant # 1R01AG083102-01; a multi-PI team), the Fellow will work in close collaboration with the multidisciplinary mentoring team of Dr. Yong-Fang Kuo, Dr. Mukaila Raji, and Dr. Ming (Huey-Ming) Tzeng, who together have expertise in health services research, data science, medicine, dementia care, nursing, and community engagement.

    This Fellow will have access to many resources available at the Sealy Center on Aging (SCOA) and UTMB. SCOA has a $29.9 million annual research portfolio on population health and aging. This Fellow will be housed within the Sealy Center on Aging.

    Aging-related research initiatives at UTMB include:

    • Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Center (OAIC)
    • Hispanic Established Population for Epidemiologic Studies of the Elderly (H-EPESE)
    • The Mexican Health and Aging Study (MHAS)
    • Texas Resource Center for Minority Aging Research (Texas RCMAR)
    • Competent use of equipment and related supplies.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Fellowship duties include but are not limited to the following:

    • Conduct qualitative interviews with caregivers and healthcare providers
    • Perform and validate interview transcriptions
    • Contribute to the development of the healthcare provider survey tool
    • Perform research activities involving qualitative and quantitative data management and analyses, present at national meetings, write and submit manuscripts in scientific journals, and contribute to grant submissions
    • Participate in aging research group meetings and seminars
    • Complete coursework for the Postdoctoral Professional Development Certificate Program and training in the ethical conduct of research
    • Submit annual progress reports summarizing research activities and accomplishments.

    KNOWLEDGE I SKILLS I ABILITIES:

    • Ability to plan and perform experiments independently
    • Ability to observe and record experiments/research and report accurately
    • Writing skills for protocols, reports, journal manuscripts and funding applications
    • Mentoring and teaching skills for interaction with graduate students
    • Presentation skills

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT/LOCATION OF POSITION:

    • The work environment is located in a comfortable indoor area.
    • Conditions such as noise, odors, cramped workspace, and/or fumes could sometimes cause discomfort.
    • Moderate to extreme physical effort may be required, such as walking, standing, and lifting materials, equipment, objects, and/or patients.
    • Occasional lifting may be heavy and awkward, over 50 lbs.
    • Vision, hearing, talking, and sense of touch abilities must be adequate to enable one to quickly and accurately perform tasks such as: reading small print, reading from monitoring equipment, defining details, sending and receiving clear and accurate verbal communication.
    • Frequent periods of concentrated or focused attention will be needed to interpret visual, auditory, and sensory inputs.
    • Alternate shift work and/or on-call status may be required.
    • Alertness and careful attention to detail will be required to avoid injury.
    • May be exposed to such occupational hazards as communicable diseases, radiation, chemotherapeutic agents, and disoriented or combative patients.

    OTHER:

    • Attends and participates in research meetings
    • Computer skills, including word processing, data management and analysis, presentation, report writing, & e-mail skills
    • Good written and verbal English skills
    • Developing good organizational and time management skills
