Bricklayer applies mortar to bricks and scrapes off excess. Lays and stacks bricks neatly in order to build walls and various structures. Being a Bricklayer requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Bricklayer may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.   • Role and Responsibilities

    • Skilled bricklaying work to create and maintain structures, walls, chimneys, foundations etc using various types of blocks, tiles, boards, and stone.

    • Various tasks including pointing, internal block work, working with lime mortar, insert as required e.g. laying Flemish bond.

    • Undertaking checking/assessing when directed

    • Help to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair; to ensure compliance with agreed codes, law, working practices and health and safety.

    • Carry out planned tasks in accordance with contract/agreed requirements and within agreed time limits.

    • Ensure compliance to agreed codes, legislation, and procedures including health and safety.

    • Maintain accurate records/documentation associated with your work.

    Qualifications and Education Requirements

    • Basic reading, writing and math skills.

    • Basic use of hand tools (hammer, wrench, and tape measure).

    • Experience with powered tools such as drills, and saws.

    • The ability to multi-task, follow-through and be comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

    • Ability to interact with a diverse workforce effectively and professionally.

    • Ability to take initiative with minimal direction.

    • Excellent math skills with strong attention to detail and number accuracy.

    • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

    • Must be able to work under inclement weather conditions (hot, cold, and rain).

    Physical Requirements

    • Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments.

    • Standing and walking for extended periods of time.

    • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment.

    • Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.

    • Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching.

    • Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds.

    • Climbing ladders and working from heights as necessary.

    • The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.
