Budget Manager manages and coordinates budgeting activities and the implementation of the organization's budget policies and guidelines. Monitors actual performance against estimates and prepares annual and interim budgets. Being a Budget Manager coordinates budget appropriations and responds to exception requests for funds. Monitors and analyzes performance against budgets. Additionally, Budget Manager implements and supports tools and reporting used for planning, forecasting, monitoring, and decision support. Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting. Typically reports to a director. The Budget Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. General Statement Of Duties:
Manages the preparation, allocation and expenditure of the Colorado Judicial Department budget.
Distinguishing Factors:
This classification is distinguished from other classifications by supervising budget operations for the Colorado Judicial Department. This position receives supervision from the Director of Financial Services at the State Court Administrator's Office.
The estimated start date for this position is 12/5/22.
Makes decisions regarding subordinate's employment probationary/trial period.
Provides orientation and on-going training, mentoring and coaching to existing subordinates.
Makes provisions for subordinates to attend outside training.
May provide cross-training and interdepartmental training.
Assigns duties and responsibilities to staff; develops and establishes procedures for operating and maintaining required administrative systems.
Attends meetings and training as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisor Responsibilities:
Has supervisory accountability for other employees. Plans, directs and coordinates activities for a unit. Duties may include scheduling and assigning of work, training in all facets of work, quality control, and decisions impacting the pay, status and tenure of others. Conducts performance appraisals, and provides input into and participates in discipline, dismissal, and hiring processes.
Minimum Education:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in finance; accounting; business, judicial or public administration; or related field and five years of experience in budgeting or general finance analyst work.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk. The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; reach with hands and arms; and perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
