Building and Grounds Supervisor supervises and trains building and grounds maintenance staff. Oversees landscaping activities, the maintenance of sidewalks and parking areas, and the removal of trash and snow. Being a Building and Grounds Supervisor maintains and monitors the operation of all utility systems such as heating, ventilating and air conditioning. May be responsible for the housekeeping staff. Additionally, Building and Grounds Supervisor, a level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Building Maintenance Support
Internal and external customers feel welcomed and are helped graciously especially as things happen without notice or very short lead times.
Oversees all technical trades such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and fixtures.
Groundskeeping
Oversees all the mowing, trimming, fertilizing, weed control, and landscaped areas of the campus.
Can anticipate issues and has contingency plans with approaching inclement weather and manages the snow and ice removal. Manages the fleet to keep it operational and serviced.
Maintains the parking lots and surfaces that require paint or repair.
Campus Safety
Prepares purchases needed for the building and grounds operation. Secures the right inventory items and ensures the MSDS sheets are on file and available.
Conducts safety inspections on fire, exit, and emergency lighting and resolves any audit issues in a timely manner.
Orders supplies, elevating any issues of concern to the Business Office Manager.
Submits building and grounds self-inspection reports once per quarter noting any safety hazards, trip, or fall hazards, with a follow up action plan.
Custodian Support
Oversee contracted labor work when needed and supervises 2 staff members.
Order and maintain inventory of required supplies.
Keep accurate records for maintenance, equipment upkeep, and annual or bi-annual projects like floor and tile refinishing.
Complete daily janitorial checklist.
Transportation
Complete vehicle safety checks, cleaning, and service.
Complete routine maintenance and elevate any concerns.
