Building and Grounds Supervisor supervises and trains building and grounds maintenance staff. Oversees landscaping activities, the maintenance of sidewalks and parking areas, and the removal of trash and snow. Being a Building and Grounds Supervisor maintains and monitors the operation of all utility systems such as heating, ventilating and air conditioning. May be responsible for the housekeeping staff. Additionally, Building and Grounds Supervisor, a level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Generally has a minimum of 2 years experience as an individual contributor. JOB PURPOSE
Plans and directs maintenance activities of the hospital to ensure that standards of safety, efficiency, cost effectiveness, quality, and performance are maintained. Responsible for the general physical appearance of hospital facilities as associated with the building and grounds section, which includes carpentry, cabinetry, building maintenance, painting, and gardening. Manages all aspects of a construction project including interfacing with the contractor, subcontractors, design team and inspection team to ensure that the work conforms to specifications, budget and schedule.

LEVEL OF EDUCATION
Minimum: AA Degree in related field or four (4) years of equivalent experience (2 years college = 1 year experience).

Minimum: Valid California motor vehicle operator's permit.
