Building and Grounds Supervisor jobs in Nebraska

Building and Grounds Supervisor supervises and trains building and grounds maintenance staff. Oversees landscaping activities, the maintenance of sidewalks and parking areas, and the removal of trash and snow. Being a Building and Grounds Supervisor maintains and monitors the operation of all utility systems such as heating, ventilating and air conditioning. May be responsible for the housekeeping staff. Additionally, Building and Grounds Supervisor, a level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Generally has a minimum of 2 years experience as an individual contributor.     SUMMARY: Assigned under the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager to utilize a variety of Maintenance processes,

    Equipment, and performs general maintenance and up keep of the building and grounds of the facility.

    Essential Duties And Responsibilities

    • Knowledge of Carpentry.
    • Ability to Paint.
    • Cleaning and up keep of facility including mowing, snow removal, edging,weed-eating, including building and grounds.
    • Cleaning around the wastewater.
    • Knowledge of Electrical and able to change light bulbs.
    • Perform preventative maintenance on Facility Equipment.
    • Knowledge of Plumbing.
    • Conducts scheduled preventative maintenance on HVAC systems.
    • Knowledge of how to fix minor repairs of the building inside and out.
    • Work on special projects as needed.
    • Maintains good morale and positive attitude
    • All other Job duties as assigned.

    EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

    • High School Diploma or GED. 1-3 Years of Experience in a manufacturing facilities maintenance environment.

    Language Skills

    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with employees and management. Must be able to read, write and speak English.

    Mathematical Skills

    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.

    Reasoning Ability

    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables and in situations where only limited experience exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Physical Demands

    • Perform critical tasks such as Visual Acuity
    • Near Visual Acuity, clarity of vision at approximately 20 inch or less
    • Far Visual Acuity, clarity of vision at approximately 20 feet or more. This is not just the ability to see a person or object, but the ability to recognize features as well
    • Peripheral Vision, observing an area that can be seen up and down or right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point
    • May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Stand on concrete surfaces, and can be exposed to indoor manufacturing environment with exposure to noise from equipment.
    • Climb stairs and ladders.
    • Must have the ability to work in a refrigerated environment of 35 to 45 degrees F.
    • Must have the ability to work outdoors in temperatures of 100 degrees F.
    • The job is fast paced and the ability to deal with stress is essential.

    Fulltime regular positions that work Monday through Friday, generally work 8 hours per day, with minimal overtime. Travel is not required for this position.
