Building and Grounds Supervisor supervises and trains building and grounds maintenance staff. Oversees landscaping activities, the maintenance of sidewalks and parking areas, and the removal of trash and snow. Being a Building and Grounds Supervisor maintains and monitors the operation of all utility systems such as heating, ventilating and air conditioning. May be responsible for the housekeeping staff. Additionally, Building and Grounds Supervisor, a level I supervisor is considered a working supervisor with little authority for personnel actions. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Generally has a minimum of 2 years experience as an individual contributor.     Full-time position with a range starting at $45K DOE with benefits. Working in Taos, NM out of our El Monte Sagrado.
    Description: The Grounds Manager has a critical role in maintaining a luxury environment for our guests. The primary objective of the Grounds Manager is to ensure that the grounds team carries out their responsibilities keep the resort looking vibrant and full of life while maintaining operational and financial strategies as directed by the General Manager and ownership. This position will report directly to the General Manager and the Corporate Director of Landscaping.

    Essential Duties and Functions/Responsibilities/Tasks:

    • Train, mentor, and develop groundskeeping staff to be more proficient and knowledgeable.
    • Lead the groundskeeping team to achieve upkeep of all landscaping including plants, trees, ponds, fish, and other grounds elements, ensuring everything is healthy, clean, and free of trash and debris.
    • Maintain parking lots, walkways, pavements and entryways, including grease, snow and ice removal as needed.
    • Install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems including valves, controllers, piping, wiring rotors, spray heads, drip tubing, bubbles, etc.
    • Maintain all interior fauna, including uplighting for aesthetic appeal.
    • Maintain all exterior landscaping including all lighting for safety and appeal.
    • Maintain and operate all related power tools and equipment in relation to landscaping/groundskeeping (ie. Mowers, blowers, pressure washers) as well as keeping a stock of fuel and oil.
    • Retrieve related supplies from local vendors as well as receiving deliveries.
    • Engage in property improvement plans and provide expertise on new procedures may be required.
    • Adhere to ground maintenance budgets and develop cost estimates for the General Manager.
    • Supervise 3rd party landscaping vendors and internal groundskeeping staff.
    • Create operational and safety procedures as they relate to the grounds work.
    • Ensure that all work activities conform to all safety, sanitation, and health regulations and policies.
    • Maintain a high level of positivity and professionalism with guests, team members, and external partners.

    Requirements:

    Qualifications:

    • (5) years of grounds, maintenance, or landscaping experience required.
    • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
    • Excellent communication skills both internal and external.
    • Basic knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Extensive knowledge of landscaping tools.
    • Must have reasonable knowledge of outdoor fountains including mechanical components, valves and floats.
    • Working knowledge of irrigation systems.
    • Extensive knowledge of specific plants and trees as well as their seasonal upkeep is preferred.
    • Industry Related Certifications / Training preferred. (Irrigation, journeyman, herbicide, etc.)
