Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Business Development works with the Director of Business Development to oversee marketing, customer service, and community relations activities. The Assistant Director of Business Development is responsible for achieving the desired utilization of the organization’s continuum of care through the effective application of ethical marketing principles and methods.
As a member of the business development team, the Assistant Director of Business Development is actively involved in discussions related to a wide variety of departmental issues including, but not limited to, strategic planning, potential growth opportunities, future projects, changes in programming/protocols, outreach liaison recruitment and retention, and psychiatric provider recruitment.
The Assistant Director of Business Development is responsible for assisting the Director of Business Development in developing and implementing the facility’s strategic marketing plan, enhancing the facility’s brand/image, and coordinating business development activities. Job duties include maintaining an active and productive working relationship with internal departments and government, for profit, and nonprofit organizations in the interest of access to behavioral and mental health patient care. The Assistant Director of Business Development communicates issues or potential problems proactively, especially with the CEO, Director of Business Development, and Director of Admissions/Intake.
Hours are based on departmental and facility needs and may include day, evening and weekend hours, and up to 90% in and out of state travel during a work week, as directed by the CEO and Director of Business Development.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, political science, social work, psychology, education, or nursing required. Masters preferred.
Experience: Must be 21 years of age or over. Prior experience within a mental or behavioral healthcare, education, or hospital setting required. Demonstrated expertise expected in leadership, organizational communication, referral management, workshop planning, oral and written communication skills, marketing, and community and payor relations. Demonstration of pre-existing collaborative relationships with local or state governments, physicians, education, medical/mental health professional organizations, and/or hospitals is preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
Knowledge: Knowledge of the Wyoming behavioral and mental healthcare marketplace, mental health services funding, and psychiatric treatment and age-specific programming is preferred. Candidates must possess superior leadership abilities, demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, know how to apply marketing principles, and be energetic, flexible, and innovative. Ability to collect and utilize data in strategic planning and outcomes monitoring is required. Candidates should understand and demonstrate knowledge of the importance of adherence to deadlines, possess teaching or training skills, and be willing and able to travel in and out of state overnight, up to 90% of the work week. Must be proficient in the use of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher, and able to access, monitor, and utilize data entered in and collected from online corporate databases.

Works with the Director of Business Development to prepare and monitor the annual marketing department budget and develops controls to maximize spend and minimize expenses.
Environmental Conditions: Possible exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior; potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous waste.
