Business Development Director directs the execution of the business development vision, strategy, plans, and processes to drive sales, increase revenue, expand markets, and accomplish financial objectives. Identifies and evaluates new markets, partners, channels, and customers. Being a Business Development Director develops and uses contacts and relationships within the industry, business environment, and customer base to understand and respond to competition, pricing, and product demand changes. Oversees the development of proposals and contracts for new business opportunities and manages negotiations. Additionally, Business Development Director collaborates with marketing, sales, product development, and other stakeholders to support business development plans. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Business Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Business Development Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     Summary of Position:

    The Director of Business Operations role is a high-level sales position that focuses on the food service needs of public, private and charter school districts. Will call on C-Level business executives in the k-12 community (Business Managers, Superintendents, and School Board Members) The successful candidate will be the lead voice in driving productivity and profitability to achieve set sales targets and drive sustainable, profitable growth aligned to the strategic business plan. Will have a state responsibility in XXXX/XXXX.

    Qualifications:

    • Five years of documented success in consultative service-based sales
    • Solid understanding of the National School Lunch Program a plus
    • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in multiple territories
    • Writing, listening, communication and presentation skills
    • Analytical ability to develop financial proformas, P&L’s and manage an overhead budget
    • Identification of prospects and discipline to develop markets: relationship builder with understanding of long-term, complex sales cycle
    • Effective demonstration of sales process/methodology: identify buying criteria, eliminate objections, and develop solutions
    • Computer skills (Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
    • Experience utilizing a CRM system such as Salesforce
    • InDesign Software experience preferred
    • Extensive travel required (50%)
    • College degree or equivalent experience required

    Responsibilities:

    • The decision maker in the entire sales process, including but not limited to:
      • Prospect qualifying
      • Prospect networking
      • Building high wide and deep networks
      • Proforma development
      • Proposal development
      • Presentation to selection committee and or school board
      • Closing and contract negotiations
    • Attend and lead tradeshow/presentation efforts
    • Provide support with operations including resale support when needed
    • Lead voice in generating, cultivating, and fostering relationships with key school business officials
    • Manage and track sales activities through CRM software (Salesforce)
    • Schedule and organize presentations, pre-bird conferences, and conference calls
    • Report, track, and maintain all tradeshow leads and contact information
    • Other duties, as assigned
