Business Development Director directs the execution of the business development vision, strategy, plans, and processes to drive sales, increase revenue, expand markets, and accomplish financial objectives. Identifies and evaluates new markets, partners, channels, and customers. Being a Business Development Director develops and uses contacts and relationships within the industry, business environment, and customer base to understand and respond to competition, pricing, and product demand changes. Oversees the development of proposals and contracts for new business opportunities and manages negotiations. Additionally, Business Development Director collaborates with marketing, sales, product development, and other stakeholders to support business development plans. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Business Development Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Business Development Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     The Director of Business Development will lead the Account Directors in the pursuit of  new clients for Steelhead. This role requires a history of sales achievement with the distinct desire for the tireless hunt for new business and opportunities.  The Biz Dev Team will work hand in hand with Marketing to attract and secure the relationships critical to fuel growth for Steelhead.

     

     Responsibilities:

    • Lead, inspire, manage and hold team accountable.
    • Overseeing a team of sales representatives, including hiring, training, and performance management to include quarterly conversations and annual reviews.
    • Setting sales performance targets, measuring progress, and ensuring the team meets or exceeds these goals.
    • Sales performance reporting with corrective plans to remain on track. 
    • Implementing and refining sales strategies to improve sales performance.
    • Ensuring efficient sales processes and workflows, often utilizing CRM systems.
    • Add client count for defined target markets while identifying emerging markets with product fit. 


    Activities:

    • Monitoring sales performance and analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Conducting regular team meetings and one-on-one sessions to provide feedback and coaching.
    • Transactional coaching and collaboration with Account Directors to improve sales outcomes. 
    • Collaborating with other departments (e.g., marketing, design, client services, estimating) to align strategies and improve sales outcomes.


    Key Performance Indicators:

    • 51% or higher competitive close rates
    • Dream 100 and Key Account Acquisition (goals defined in annual planning) 
    • Team to produce $5,000,000 in "net new sales" annually (goals defined in annual planning)
    • 1.5M in individual "new sales" contribution. 


    Qualifications:

    • 5 Years sales experience/sales management.
    • Strong passion for sales and an unpatrolled drive to exceed targets.
    • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Proven track record in trade show sales = over 2m in annual sales. 
    • Self-motivated and driven to achieve ambitious goals.
    • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

    • Resilience. You take rejection as a personal challenge to overcome.
    • This is an in office, Las Vegas based position.
