Business Development Manager, Sr. manages the daily execution of the business development strategy, plans, and processes to drive sales, increase revenue, expand markets, and accomplish financial objectives. Coaches teams in best practices and effective tactics for prospecting new markets, partners, channels, and customers. Being a Business Development Manager, Sr. establishes team targets and metrics to measure the achievement of objectives. Develops and uses contacts and relationships within the industry, business environment, and customer base to understand and respond to competition, pricing, and product demand changes. Additionally, Business Development Manager, Sr. makes suggestions for new product offerings or improvements to sales or marketing efforts. May administer or negotiate new business proposals and prepare contracts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Business Development Manager, Sr. typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Business Development Manager, Sr. typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Role Summary
    This position is available with a leading ocean shipping and logistics provider. This person would be responsible for leading Business Analysis efforts for their newly formed innovation team. This individual will mentor and lead Business Analysts to gather business requirements and work on strategic innovation initiatives for their entire enterprise. The individual should be a self-starter and also have the ability to work well in a team environment across multiple departments.

    The position will be responsible for the management and leadership of a team of business analysts and the development of business analysis capability through professional development activities. As well as providing this leadership, they will contribute to the development of their innovation strategy, the strengthening and optimization of their innovation governance and the development and deployment of their innovative solutions. They will need to possess excellent leadership qualities, to operate a matrix management regime that allows staff to be deployed effectively to projects to work closely with colleagues, key stakeholders, and external suppliers.

    Responsibilities:
    • Provide direction for the gathering requirements for Strategic Innovation group.
    • Quickly adopt to industry trends and developments and apply that knowledge to improve our services to customers and carriers.
    • Apply the knowledge to understand business problems and provide effective solutions.
    • Recruit and mentor junior Business Analysts.
    • Coordinate with multiple teams on project requirements.
    • Respond to and resolve business inquiries and concerns.
    • Report customer issues to operational groups within our team and provide follow-up to ensure a satisfactory resolution.
    • Develop an understanding of the customer's business, build relationships, and identify opportunities for growth in all services they have available.

    Requirements:
    • 10 years of experience in Business Analysis/Analytics
      • Experience in the Logistics, Shipping, Transportation and/or Supply Chain environment is preferred
    • Proficiency with SQL
    • Experience using Tableau
    • Experience managing and developing teams of professionals including objective setting, performance management, coaching, personal and professional development, and general line management

    Nice to have:
    • Familiarity with at least one of the following areas: ocean transportation, terminals management or asset lite/assetless intermodal, or trucking services
    • Proven understanding of formal IT methodologies, tools, and techniques (such as TOGAF, ITIL, ISEB Business Analysis, PRINCE2 or MSP) and how these can be used for digitization
