Business Development Supervisor identifies, evaluates, and pursues business opportunities with partners or potential customers. Coordinates and negotiates with other departments to implement marketing initiatives. Being a Business Development Supervisor is responsible for maintaining close relationship with existing clients. Acquires new customers, retains and expands existing customer relationships. Additionally, Business Development Supervisor develops sales of products and services by investigating and resolving customer problems, recommends modifications to the product/service line, and coordinates sales negotiations with appropriate personnel. Responsible for meeting sales volume and revenue goals and standards for activity, such as number of sales calls. Requires a bachelor's degree in business, finance or marketing. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Business Development Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Business Development Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. In this full time, exempt position, work is typically performed during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, but will vary on occasion according to business needs. As a Business Development Manager, you will provide support for the overall execution and implementation of the strategic initiatives to help drive achievement of sales, profit, and working capital goals. You will help drive growth in markets that are underdeveloped through inside and outside sales, primarily focused on our metering technology lines.

    A Typical Day in the Life of a Metering Technology Business Development Manager at DSG:

    • Collaborate with Inside Sales Associate(s) to identify, prioritize, and implement initiatives that will improve customer satisfaction and territory growth
    • Seek and develop new customer opportunities and accounts
    • Assist with establishing, managing, and maintaining strong customer relationships and accounts
    • Call on customers on a regular basis
    • Provide overall customer service, including responding to customer questions and concerns as well as complaints
    • Act as the primary customer contact for new and existing customers
    • Serve as a primary facilitator for customer orders
    • Identify and encourage the sale of additional products as applicable
    • Generate customer quotations and follow up on quotes requested
    • Introduces, promotes, and demonstrates new products and marketing programs
    • Provide customers with literature, catalogs, and price sheets
    • Meet or exceed company objectives and goals for gross margin, sales, and growth
    • Communicate with Branch Manager on changes in product demands
    • Gain experience with the Eclipse system and EDA reporting system to become a subject matter expert, helping the field accelerate through the learning curve
    • Assist segment leadership in updating customer information in the CRM platform
    • Assist segment leadership in analyzing and evaluating business data and analytics to help drive focus and decisions
    • All other duties as assigned

    A Successful Metering Technology Business Development Manager Typically Has:

    • A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (required).
    • A high school diploma or equivalent.
    • Product and technical knowledge normally acquired in two or more years of college or technical school OR 3-5 years field experience in the residential/commercial applications of metering technology products.
    • Experience working within the wholesale/distributor industry (preferred).
    • The physical ability to lift up to 60 lbs. on a regular basis, and up to 100 lbs. on an occasional basis (when serving as counter backup or filling or delivering an order).
    • Prior computer knowledge, experience and skills.
    • Outstanding interpersonal, customer service and communication skills.
    • Experience building strong customer relationships.
