Carpenter constructs, maintains, and remodels buildings or related structures. Installs, fixes, or modifies all aspects of a building, including walls, ceilings, floors, and stairs, as well as related structures like railings, doors, windows, and air conditioning systems. Being a Carpenter follows blueprints and plans to ensure requirements and specifications are met. Observes all worksite safety procedures and guidelines. Additionally, Carpenter inspects buildings to determine repair that needs to be done. An apprenticeship and/or formal training may be required. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Carpenter works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Participate in formulation development projects.
- Verify reactivity profile and physical testing properties to confirm correct formulations.
- Perform chemical testing on wet samples.
- Prepare polyurethane formulas on lab scale and mix samples.
- Operate titration equipment, measure water and physical blowing agent content (OH, N2, H2O blowing)
- Record results in data base, create spreadsheets and maintain records.
- Organize and maintain lab area, including ordering supplies.
- Set up, calibrate and maintain lab equipment.
- Prepare and update quality reports and work instructions.
- Report all discrepancies or conditions identified to be out of the normal operating condition to immediate supervisor.
- Participate in team problem solving activities and continuous improvement activities.
- Follow all internal and OSHA required safety and environmental procedures.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other departments as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
- Associate degree in Science (Chemistry preferred)
- 1-3 years of previous lab experience, preferably in industrial setting
- Experience working with polymers- a plus.
- Experience working with lab equipment (Carl Fisher water titration device, viscometer, general lab equipment)
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suit
