CAT Scan Technologist obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and answers patient questions. Produces computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of specific areas as required by the departmental procedures. Being a CAT Scan Technologist performs obstetric and gynecological scans, ultrasound techniques and examinations, abdominal scans, retroperitoneal scans, and radiation therapy localization. Requires a high school diploma. Additionally, CAT Scan Technologist requires completion of radiologic technology training and American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) registration. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. CAT Scan Technologist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the director of diagnostic imaging, and according to established policies and procedures, performs all required diagnostic computerized tomography (CT) scanning procedures with knowledge of all pertinent technical and academic areas to produce consistent, high-quality examinations. The computerized tomography technologist functions independently within the broad scope of established department policies and goals; generally, refers specific problems to supervisors only when clarifications of operating policies and procedures may be required.
Essential Functions
Initiates the computer into its proper program and starts the X-ray equipment.

Minimum Education/Certifications
Graduate of 2-year AMA approved Certificate program or A.A.S. Degree in Radiologic Technology
Certification and in possession of a current NJ Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) license in Diagnostic Radiography and in addition, The American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT Certification)
BLS, CPR Certification: Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist Certificate (required within one year of employment)
Minimum Work Experience
At least one year of experience as a radiologic technologist
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Must be willing to work holidays, weekends and provide additional coverage as needed
