Description
At Maryhurst, our residential programs, community-based homes and our outpatient clinical programs all work to serve children in the greatest need. Maryhurst’s community and transitional living programs offer tools that prepare survivors of abuse and neglect for better, more hope-filled futures. And lastly, the team at Maryhurst Renewal partners with children, adults and families who are hurting to find the right combination of support, ultimately clearing barriers to success at home, at school, and in the community. Renewal provides one-on-one, group and family counseling in office, home or school-based settings.
The COTA will implement competent therapy treatment to clients on the Euphrasia campus. This includes routine collaboration with the OT for development and implementation of an appropriate treatment plan, delivery of treatment services, and contributing towards comprehensive discharge planning. Skilled interventions will include both individual and small group opportunities, co-treatment, consultation, and treatment team participation. The COTA will also participate in providing educational opportunities to both clients and staff. In some cases, interventions may occur in the community. Thet therapist will consistently establish and maintain effective working relations with clients, staff/colleagues, the supervising OT, as well as internal and external parties. The COTA will ensure their workflow, productivity, and corresponding clinical documentation are in compliance with regulatory standards/standards of practice in addition to adhering to department policies and procedures at Maryhurst through consistent and routine review communication with supervisory staff/personnel.
Requirements
COTA candidates must graduate with an entry-level occupational therapy degree from an ACOTE-accredited occupational therapist assistant (OTA) program. Must possess a current license as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and valid certification from the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). Previous experience in a mental health setting is preferred with an understanding of the basic adolescent process, specifically sensory processing, and mental health practice. Preference for a minimum of one year of clinical experience and/or having successfully completed a Level 2 fieldwork in a behavioral health setting with strong professional recommendations.
