Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant assists an Occupational Therapist with rehabilitative activities for patients who may have developmental, physical and emotional impairments or who are recovering from injury. Prepares adaptive equipment used during treatment and supports patient activities. Being a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant documents therapeutic activities and details of patients progress. Requires an associate degree. Additionally, Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant requires NBCOT Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) certification. Typically reports to an occupational therapist. Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. In order to be considered for this position you must be a graduate of an accredited school for Occupational Therapy Assistant or will graduate from such an institution within the next six (6) months. You must hold a valid National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy Assistant (NBCOT) certification and you must currently hold or be eligible for a valid state license (where appropriate) as an Occupational Therapist Assistant.
