  • The University of Iowa’s Office of Admissions is seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Campus & Community Engagement to support their strategic recruitment efforts.

    Join our Big 10 Institution, University of Iowa, and have an opportunity to lead the development and strengthening of relationships with community- and campus-based organizations with the goal of creating accessible recruitment pipelines for all future Hawkeyes.

    This position will counsel and advise prospective students, manage an assigned recruitment territory, and participate in outreach events to support the Office of Admissions enrollment/recruitment process. Additionally, this role will have a strong emphasis on helping to connect prospective students from various backgrounds to campus and community organizations, resources, and tools to increase accessibility to and in support of the college search process. 

    You will have the opportunity to:

    • Counsel and advise prospective students (first year and transfer) through the college search process by providing timely and accurate information and promptly responding to large volumes of inquiries. 
    • Manage an assigned geographic recruitment territory to meet enrollment goals.
    • Plan, implement and assess recruitment, outreach and public service programs designed to create accessible college pipelines.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. (Equivalent experience: a minimum of 2 additional years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree, OR an additional 6 years of related experience with no higher education degree.)
    • Minimum 1 year experience in a K-12 OR post-secondary academic setting working with student support programming. 
    • Demonstrated knowledge of both benefits and challenges to recruiting/supporting students from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
    • The ability to move boxes and materials up to 40 lbs.

    Demonstrates a working proficiency level in:

    • Collaborating across multiple departments or units to engage students or staff in programs or initiatives.
    • The use of Microsoft Office software applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

    Demonstrates an extensive proficiency level in:

    • The ability to operate a program by developing, promoting, and implementing the specific goals and objectives of the program.
    • Decision making and critical thinking; ability to analyze situations fully and accurately and reach productive decisions.
    • Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools, and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
    • Ability to foster and promote a welcoming and respectful environment where people of all backgrounds feel welcomed and appreciated.

    Travel Requirements:

    • Majority of work will be performed on campus but occasional travel (up to 25%) is required. This may include some overnight travel, evening, and weekend work.
    • A valid driver’s license and the ability to meet the University Driving Policy requirements.

     

    DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master’s degree in Student Affairs, School Counseling or related field is highly desired.
    • 3 or more years of experience in a K-12 OR post-secondary academic setting working with student support programming.
    • Experience working with educational agencies that serve college bound populations.
    • Experience working in admissions or other similar student service programs (financial aid, student life, student organizations etc.)
    • Experience creating and implementing programs that support student success through access to resources, community building and general campus support.
    • Knowledge of University of Iowa policies, procedures, and regulations.
