Chief Helicopter Pilot partners with general aviation management to establish and implement operating policies and procedures for helicopter pilots. Ensures flights are operated in compliance with all applicable FAA regulations. Being a Chief Helicopter Pilot schedules flight personnel, maintenance and maintains flight records. Assumes flight duty. Additionally, Chief Helicopter Pilot has all required licenses and meets flying time requirements. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Commercial Pilot license for helicopters - CPL(H). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Chief Helicopter Pilot manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Chief Helicopter Pilot typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Overview:
    The UH-60 Helicopter Repairer is primarily responsible for the maintenance of UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters. With hundreds of Army missions depending on these helicopters, UH-60 Helicopter Repairers must ensure that all of them are safe and ready to fly. 
     
    Job Duties:
    •  Remove and install aircraft subsystem assemblies such as engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions and mechanical flight controls.
    • Service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems.
    • Prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks.
    • Assist in diagnosing/troubleshooting.
    Requirements:
    • Be between the ages of 17–35
    • Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
    • Possess a High School Diploma or GED.
    • Mechanical Maintenance (MM): 104 on the ASVAB.
    • Those who want to serve must first take the ASVAB, a series of tests that helps you better understand your strengths and identify which Army jobs are best for you.
    Training:
    Job training for a UH-60 Helicopter Repairer requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 15 weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job instruction. Part of this time in the classroom, and part takes place in the field. 
     
    Some of the skills you’ll learn are: 
    • Engine disassembly and repair
    • Repair of aluminum, steel and fiberglass airframes/coverings
    • Repair of hydraulic, fuel and electrical systems
     
    Helpful Skills:
    • Preference for mathematics and shop mechanics
    • Interest in working with aircraft and engine mechanics.
    • Ability to use hand and power tools.
