Position Summary
The Hospital Educator exemplifies professional nursing practice through expert education, consultation, research, staff development and leadership activities. This candidate is a professional registered nurse who is proficient in the classroom and clinical settings. This role serves as a clinical leader specializing in, and responsible for, the development, coordination, implementation & evaluation of competency based programs for clinical and non-clinical professionals within PMC. The Hospital Educator assumes a leadership role in planning, organizing and execution of educational services including, but not limited to, onboarding activities for new hires, clinical software training, American Heart Association training, annual competencies, and professional development activities. The Hospital Educator thrives in an innovative, creative environment utilizing a combination of education delivery methods such as instructor led and e-learning approaches. Additional responsibilities may be assigned. The Hospital Educator reports to the Director of Hospital Education and Professional Development.
Minimum Requirements
Education
Experience
- Minimum 3 years acute care clinical bedside nursing
- Proficient in Microsoft office programs (Word, Powerpoint, Publisher, Excel)
- Must have demonstrated leadership skills and be able to adjust schedule to meet patient and staff needs
- Experienced and/or proficient in classroom setting
- Understands adult learning principles/concepts
- Familiarity with Simulation education
- Experience with Healthstream
License/Registration/Certifications
- CNE- Certified Nurse Educator
- Current South Carolina Nursing License
- BLS provider or instructor certification
- ACLS provider or instructor certification

- Designs and evaluates innovative hospital wide educational programs for staff, patients, families, and groups.

- Collaborates with other education leaders, nursing leaders and others on content and operational design of orientation, clinical competency, and other clinical educational program development, ensuring that all meets current evidence based practice.

- Develops pilots, evaluates, and incorporates innovative models of practice across the continuum of care.
- Designs and evaluates programs and initiatives that are congruent with the organization's strategic plans, regulatory agency requirements, and nursing standards.
- Participates and leads mock safety events / drills and competency opportunities.
- Collaborates with unit specific clinical resource staff to help facilitate annual competency requirements and patient education.
- Develops and implements Simulation programs for clinical staff.
