Job Summary and Qualifications

As an RN Diabetes Educator at our facility you will be joining a compassionate, hard-working team that understands how to give excellent care to our patients and how to work together in a collaborative way to ensure a positive environment for everyone. In this role:

• You will be responsible for teaching and coordinating community classes, assessing the needs of the patient in both inpatient and outpatient settings, and providing appropriate education for disease specific care.
• You will communicate with patients and families, medical staff, nursing staff, and other health care professionals to assure patient care needs are met.
• You will educate patients on the necessary lifestyle changes involved in a diabetes diagnosis, including nutrition, medication, physical activity, and glucose testing.
• You will customize care to the needs of patients to attain high levels of customer satisfaction.
• You will develop and implement educational policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Current licensure in the State of Utah as a Registered Nurse.
• Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE).
• Graduate of a school of Nursing; NP or advanced clinical degree preferred.
• Must have academic preparation and/or experiential preparation in program management and care of persons with a chronic disease.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Clinical Educator or minimum one year of experience in a hospital management position.
• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.

• American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Course (ALS or ACLS) and Certification.
