    Duties

    Some of the duties you will perform include, but are not limited to:

    • Serving as a Senior Design Professional responsible for applying design principles and techniques for preparation of plans, specifications and design analysis for in-house and managing Architect/Engineer (A/E) contracted modifications of new, existing, and historic locations.
    • Managing and/or providing project scoping, data and asset management, design phases (pre-design, schematic design, design development, construction documents), value analysis, technical assistance and administration for a broad range of facility projects.
    • Serving as technical leader of multi-discipline project design teams in completing self-performed (or via multiple Project Management project teams) construction documentation for bidding and construction.
    • Creating and maintaining project schedules and budgets, communicate, and providing technical expert service to clients (Parks, contracting, etc..), over a wide range of assigned project types.
    • Answering questions and provides technical support for parks and colleagues within the Division and supports value-based decision-making process assistance to parks.
    • Performing contracting officer's representative duties for AE services and construction contracts and serve as contracting officer's technical representative on construction projects.
    • Working as part of a high-performing professional team in providing code and policy compliant projects supporting the National Park Service (NPS) mission and Park project goals.

    • You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
    • If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
    • You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 5 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
    • You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.

    Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40 hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.

    Basic Requirement, 0808 - You must possess at least one of the following:

    • Successful completion of a bachelors (or higher) degree from an accredited college or university in architecture, or a related field that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines, of which at least (1) 30 semester hours were in architectural design, and (2) 6 semester hours were in each of the following: structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems. NOTE: You must submit transcripts with your application, failure to provide transcripts will result in no further consideration.
    • A combination of education and experience. The college-level education, training, and/or technical experience has furnished me with (1) a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of buildings. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by at least one of the following: 1) Related Curriculum: A degree in architectural engineering may be accepted as satisfying in full the basic requirements, provided the completed course work in architectural engineering provided knowledge, skills, and abilities substantially equivalent to those provided in the courses specified in A above. -OR - 2) Experience: I do not possess a degree in architecture, but I possess 1 year of experience in an architect's office or in architectural work for each year short of graduation from a program of study in architecture. Note: In the absence of college courses, 5 years of such experience is required. This experience must demonstrate that you have acquired a thorough knowledge of the fundamental principles and theories of professional architecture. NOTE: You must submit transcripts with your application, if using education to qualify failure to provide transcripts will result in no further consideration

    Selective Factor: You must have a current, valid Architectural License.

    - AND -

    Minimum Qualifications: To qualify for this position at the GS-12 grade level, you must possess the following:

    • EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience included the development of architectural project construction drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimates as well as project management of multiple concurrent projects (this must be substantiated by your resume/application). This work experience must demonstrate knowledge of project management principles and concepts; application of architectural principles, practices, procedures of project development; and management of contractors or other project team members including risk management regarding workplace safety. You must include hours per week worked.

    Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    CTAP/ICTAP: CTAP/ICTAP provides placement assistance to permanent Federal employees who are surplus, displaced, or involuntarily separated. Applicants claiming CTAP/ICTAP eligibility must submit a copy of their most recent performance appraisal, proof of eligibility, and most current SF-50 noting position, grade level, and duty location with their application.     Physical Demands: The position may require strenuous physical activity including periods of standing, walking,
